ICONIC HOUSTON RAPPER Z-RO UNLEASHES NEW ALBUM
LEGENDARY

NEW SINGLE “OG” AVAILABLE NOW

HOUSTON PROCLAIMS JANUARY 19, 2017 “JOSEPH WAYNE MCVEY DAY”

PERFORMING AT DAY FOR NIGHT FESTIVAL IN HOUSTON

Houston hip-hop stalwart Z-Ro continues to live up to both the legend and legacy he’s built on his brand new studio album, Legendary [One Deep Entertainment/EMPIRE], arriving in stores and at all digital retailers tomorrow. Pre-order the album HERE.

Among the record’s 15 tracks, he turns up with a fresh feel to an old-school anthem on the single “Og.” Released by Z-Ro on his socials, he serves up novel Southern storytelling and mesmerizing melodies over sweeping production loaded with horns and 808 claps. Listen to it HERE. Living up to its title, Legendary also features the soulful “Drank and Smoke” and politically charged “Skrewed Up,” which piqued anticipation for the project from XXL, Rap Radar, and more last week.

Recognizing Z-Ro’s two decades of cultural impact and positive influence on his hometown, especially his work to build bridges between the community and law enforcement with Constable Alan Rosen of Harris County Precinct One, the Mayor of the City of Houston Sylvester Turner has proclaimed Z-Ro’s birthday January 19th 2017 as “Joseph Wayne McVey Day.”

He comments, “In 20 years of making music, this is one of the biggest and most important achievements of my career. I’ve always proudly represented Houston and given back when I can. To have the city recognize that is so humbling. I’m very honored to celebrate Josephy Wayne McVey Day with y’all!”

Next up, Z-Ro joins the stacked lineup of Houston’s Day For Night Festival Saturday December 17 through Monday December 19. He’ll perform alongside the likes of Travis Scott, Killer Mike, and many more.

Legendary arrives hot on the heels of this year’s acclaimed Drankin’ & Drivin’. Of the album, Pitchfork wrote, “Z-Ro sounds like what Houston feels like—hot, inviting, intimidating if you take a wrong turn, but redemptive if you stick around long enough,” and VIBE said, “Texas veteran Z-Ro has just added another chapter to his growing catalog. It’s 2016, and his impact on hip-hop culture is undeniable. Everyone from A$AP Rocky to Drake—who has been known to perform Z-Ro’s classic freestyle “Mo City Don”—have been influenced by the Houston legend.”
