YASIIN BEY MAKES BOILER ROOM DEBUT AND LONG-AWAITED US RETURN LAST NIGHT AT BOILER ROOM & SAUL WILLIAMS'

IN APPRECIATION OF LYRICISM, MIAMI

Following on from last month's groundbreaking session in London (premiered on Okayplayer), Saul Williams presented an evening dedicated to lyricism and spoken word — this time in Miami, Florida. Making his long-awaited return to US soil, the evening was made even more special with a surprise guest set from the legendary Yasiin Bey, performing new unheard music.

With the help of wordsmith Aja Monet and the thriving, youthful community cultivated via her Smoke Signals studio in Little Haiti, the global broadcaster curated a diverse line-up of artists that range from poets to rappers and vocalists to spoken word specialists.

Joined by a host of local talents plus appearances from Kanye West collaborator, Allan Kingdom, trap lord Wifisfuneral, Melo-X and more.

Talented artist and poet, Aja Monet, presented the evening affair. Many thanks to our friends at The FADER for making this possible.

On December 14, Boiler Room will then take the series to New York City. More details to follow.
